Coquitlam kindergarten registration and French Immersion

What it is

Coquitlam has three programs of choice: French Immersion (Kindergarten and Grade 6 entry), Montessori (Kindergarten and Grade 6 entry) and Mandarin Bilingual (Kindergarten only).

Applications for September 2027 are open from 9 a.m. January 7 to 4 p.m. January 13, 2027. You can apply for up to three programs.

Places are decided by random draw. Children not placed go on a waitlist in draw order, kept until the end of the first week of September.

Early French Immersion runs at Coquitlam River, Glenayre, Irvine, Kilmer, Mary Hill, Nestor, Panorama Heights, Porter Street, Rochester and Westwood elementary schools.

Late French Immersion starts in Grade 6 at Citadel, Moody and Montgomery middle schools, then joins Early French Immersion students in high school.

Regular kindergarten registration for September 2027 is February 1–4, 2027, by email to your catchment school.

A good fit if: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody families with a child born in 2022, and Grade 5 students who want to start French or Montessori in Grade 6.

How to register

1. Apply online between 9 a.m. January 7 and 4 p.m. January 13, 2027. The link appears on the front page of sd43.bc.ca.
2. Siblings must still apply online. They get highest priority if the older sibling will still be in the program next year.
3. Kindergarten results are emailed starting Monday, January 25, 2027. Grade 6 results start Tuesday, January 26.
4. If accepted, the school will tell you how to register. You don't need a separate cross-catchment application.
5. If you only want English kindergarten, email the registration form and documents to your catchment school from February 1 to 4, 2027.
6. For Grade 1 French Immersion, contact the district's Language and Culture Coordinator.
